Pile Foundation

PILE FOUNDATIONS

The core function of ASB infrastructure has always been Pile foundation, which can be used in various structures like high rise buildings, flyovers, bridges, industrial structures and warehouses. ASB infrastructure provides pile foundation in the range 450 mm to 1200 mm diameter.  The types of pile foundations provided by ASB are

  • Cast-in-situ piles
  • Bored piles using DMC
  • Continuous piles
A specialized team was formed which is capable of analyzing the Geo-technical results to arrive at a economical and sound design for pile foundation works.

The projects @ ASB infrastructure using Pile foundation include
  • Multilevel car parking at Greams road, Chennai.
  • Brindavan residential apartment, Sriperumbudur.
  • Bridge from Anna arch to Nelson manickam roand, Chennai.
  • Railway bridge from Pudukottai to karaikkudi.
  • Ennore creek bridge TNRDC project, Ennore.
  • Manali pudunagar project, TPP project, Manali.
  • High level bridge across palar river, ECR.
  • Bridge @ Kollidam.
Selection of Pile foundation is primarily based on
  • soil conditions
  • Nature of loads
  • Loads from structures
  • Number of piles to be used
  • Cost of construction
The piles types can be further classified into
  • End bearing piles
  • Friction bearing piles
  • Combination of both

The pile foundations are selected when load bearing capacity of the soil is unable to withstand the loads from the structure. Piles can be made of Concrete, Wood or Steel.

Pile cap and single or group of piles are two primary components of pile foundation. Pile transfers the load from the structures to the layers of high bearing capacity which may include hard strata, rocks or soil. The length of the pile foundations can be more than 15 meters.
